Our Guide to Photographing the Damage to your Vehicle:
We have recently added a new estimate request form to our website; here are some of our top tips on how to take photos of the damage to ensure that our team can assess the extent of the damage so we generate a detailed estimate for you.
Key Photos Needed for an Estimate:
Vehicle Identification:
- The Vehicle’s Chassis or VIN Number, this can be found on the left-hand side of the windscreen or on a sticker in the door column.
- Front and rear number plates, along with any model-specific badges on the rear.
Dashboard Information:
- Clearly showing any warning lights and the current mileage.
Overall Vehicle Views:
- A picture of each side of the vehicle, step back far enough to capture the entire side of the vehicle in each shot.
Damage Specifics:
- Area of damage from only a couple of steps back.
- Close-up images of the damage from several angles.
Tips for Getting the Best Quality Photos:
- Before taking any photos clean the car around the area of damage, if any wires are exposed, please call our team first on 01484 900294.
- Take photos in natural daylight, as it’s much harder to see the damage in dark photos.
- Reduce reflections: If struggling, use a piece of paper or cardboard to create one solid reflection instead of several different ones.
- Hold the camera steady for clearer pictures; get help if needed.
- Aim to take around 10-15 photos of your vehicle and damage.
- Avoid zooming in too much; we can zoom in on the damage if needed.
By following these tips, you’ll help us generate a detailed estimate for your vehicle’s repair needs.
*Keep in mind that photos might not capture all the damage; if additional damage is discovered upon inspection, we will notify you to discuss the repair further. If you have any questions, please call our team at 01484 900294.
If you don’t have access to a camera, you’re welcome to visit our Accident Repair Centre in Huddersfield, and we can generate an estimate in person.
