To celebrate International Women’s Day, Colourcubes Jorja Westley and Liz Mayes headed to Birmingham for an evening of celebrations. It was great to be surrounded by remarkable women thriving in the automotive sector.
Many of these women are making significant strides in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
Despite women constituting 49% of the population, their representation in the automotive industry stands at only 19%. However, events like this serve as a reminder of the progress being made and the potential for further growth and inclusivity.
Looking ahead, there’s anticipation for the upcoming Automechanika event later this year. It’s a platform where women can continue to showcase their expertise, network, and inspire the next generation of automotive professionals.
In Birmingham, surrounded by women breaking barriers and challenging stereotypes, Jorja and Liz found not just a celebration, but a reaffirmation of the importance of diversity and inclusion in shaping the future of the automotive industry.
Jorja Westley commented:
‘It was inspiring to meet women in the industry each making waves and to take part in the documentary.’
